Katie & Marcus | Arabia Mountain Fall Couples Shoot
I’ve known Katie since high school so when she saw my work on Facebook & reached out for me to take her & Marcus’ holiday photos, I was stoked! I have been dreaming of doing a shoot at Arabia Mountain for months now & since they were completely open to anything, it was game on. They brought their pups, too! Emerson, the brindle girl & Hope, their yellow lab to join in on the fun. I love when couples bring the whole “family” no matter what that looks like to them!
We started out in a nearby field with a historic barn, Vaughters’ Farm Meadow. I was beyond excited to start here, but then I got there. It was under construction with big ugly orange fencing, giant bobcats & brand spanking shiny new boards taking away from the rustic beauty that I love it for. We didn’t let that stop us. We let the dogs run amuck, literally through the muddy muck. They ran like crazy & we had our own fun.
From there we moved onto Arabia Mountain. We parked at AWARE Wildlife Center & let me tell you. If you haven’t been there before, GO! They rehab all kinds of wild & exotic animals. When Nick was working at DeKalb County Animal Services, they got an injured hawk who we were able to take to the awesome folks at AWARE to help. We set off with the pups on the mountain & magic happened! Let me tell you, it was no easy feat shooting in 10am sun on the top of a mountain but look what we created with this gorgeous couple.
By looking at these two, you would never guess they have been together under a year. They have all of the love, admiration & heat of the newlywed stage but the respect, communication & relationship of seasoned vets. Marcus was one of few guys I work with who actually was looking forward to the session, which what girl doesn’t love?
